For more than 20 years, my career has been in commercial real estate, financing hotels, apartments, industrial, retail, office and self-storage properties.

I've worked with high-net-worth individuals, family offices and some of the largest real estate investors in the country. My career taught me how to evaluate properties objectively, ask the right questions, identify opportunities, understand an owner's perspective, analyze financial performance and provide practical recommendations to improve an asset.

Today, I bring that same perspective to vacation homes.

FOLLOWING MY PASSION

During the 2009 recession, I took a break from commercial real estate to pursue something I had always loved—travel, hospitality and the outdoors.

I worked in guest-services and consulting roles at a luxury sustainable ranch in Montana and an ecolodge in Costa Rica. Those experiences gave me a firsthand look at hospitality and reinforced something years of traveling had already taught me: Where you stay matters.

FROM A WISCONSIN FARM TO 40 COUNTRIES

I grew up on a family farm in Wisconsin, where travel wasn't something my family had the opportunity to do.

That changed in college when I decided to study abroad at Copenhagen Business School. I backpacked through Europe with a Eurail Pass and a $20-a-night hostel budget—and I was hooked.

I loved the exploration, the freedom, meeting people from around the world and discovering incredible places to stay.

Over the past 24 years, I've traveled to 40 countries and 49 states and spent more than 600 nights in vacation rentals with my husband, family and friends. I've hiked, skied, fly-fished and biked my way through some of the most beautiful mountains, beaches and villages in the world.

Along the way, I've learned that the most memorable properties aren't always the most expensive or luxurious. They're the ones where someone has thought carefully about how the guest will actually experience the home.

WHY RIVERS TO MOUNTAINS

I created Rivers to Mountains to bring together my 20+ years in real estate, hospitality experience and lifelong passion for travel.

My goal is simple: help vacation-home owners see their properties through a fresh set of eyes, make smarter improvements and create better guest experiences that can lead to stronger reviews, repeat stays, recommendations and ultimately a better-performing investment.
